ITT I post my top five games of the year

current mood: whut
Since i'm too arsed to post them elsewhere, here are five games I played this year that I think highly of. You owe it to yourself to check them out.
5. Guild Wars Factions
Before I got bored with it, this is how I spent my afternoons. Not bad, but the campaign is over before you know it. Also, too many assassins (probably still are too many). Don't think i'll bother with Nightfall.
4. DEFCON
Great strategy-type game. Both pretty and fun as hell. Worth the cash.
3. Half-Life 2 Episode One
Too short but fun while it lasted. BTW, the episodic model fucking blows. I wish Portal was out about now.
2. Gears of War
Despite playing (somewhat, if you ignore the cover system) similar to another certainly hyped shooter *cough*Halo*cough* the hype is real. Great game, just wish there was more of it. Buy this if you have a 360.
1. Battlefield 2142
Whereas Battlefield 2 tries to be the realistic combat shooter, 2142 is built to be more fun. Everything from the vehicles, to the new 'Titan' gameplay mode, rankings, and maps.
And a couple I thought were overrated:
Elder Scrolls Oblivion
11 hours in and I uninstalled it. A lot of content and its dull as fuck in less than a few hours. I hope Fallout 3 doesn't suffer the same.
Prey
I'm reminded of Quake 4 playing through this: Absolutely nothing new to the table at all. Just another boxcutter FPS with walkable ceilings and a sub-par narrative.
Games I expect that will kick ass next year include Bioshock, C&C3, UT2007, Spore, Phoenix Wright 2, Lost Planet, HL2 Ep2, Portal, MGS4, and a lot more that will surely crop up.
